GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 3751

Pursuant to regulation 21 of the Environmental Management and Co-ordination (Impact Assessment and Audit) Regulations, 2003, the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has received an Environmental Impact Assessment Study Report for the above proposed project. The proponent, Savanna Clinker Limited, is proposing a Staroot Company Limited, proposes to construct of residential apartments on L.R. No. 1/183 in Kilimani area along Argwings Kodhek Road in Nairobi City County. The twin tower buildings with two level basements will be established on a 1.02 Acres of land in Kilimani area, with a total of 320 residential units that include 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms. The development will have 336 parking slots. The development will have two basements and ground floor parking spaces with apartments from 1st floor to 16th floor. Other supporting infrastructure include swimming pool, children play area, gym, management office, lifts, landscaped flower gardens and roadways. The following are the anticipated impacts and proposed mitigation measures: Possible Impacts Proposed Mitigation Measures Soil erosion • Control earthworks. • Install drainage structures to control flow of storm water. • Ensure management of excavation activities. Loss of vegetation • Only areas earmarked for development should be cleared. • Project developmental footprint is less than 75% of the total land cover. • Plant trees, shrubs and flowers on remaining open spaces. • Provide suitable safety gear for all personnel.
