THE TOURISM ACT
(No. 28 of 2011)
ESTABLISHMENT
IT IS notified for the information of the general public that the
Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife has established the
National Tourism and Hospitality Protocols Taskforce ("Taskforce").
1. The Taskforce is established to develop Tourism and Hospitality protocols and guidelines in response to COVID-19 pandemic and to support tourism operations as a result thereof.
2. The Taskforce shall comprise the following:
(a) Principal Secretary for the State Department of Tourism who shall be the Chair;
(b) Chief Executive Officer, Kenya Association of Hotel
Keepers and Caterers;
(c) Chief Executive Officer, Kenya Association of Tour
Operators;
(d) Chief Executive Officer, Pubs, Entertainment and
Restaurants Association of Kenya
(e) Chief Executive Officer, Kenya Association of Air
Operators
(f) Chief Executive Officer, Events Management Association of Kenya
(8) Chief Executive Officer, Tour Operators Society of Kenya
(h) Representative of Adventure Tourism
(i) Chief Executive Officer, Retail Traders Association of
Kenya
Chief Executive Officer, Kenya Wildlife Conservancies
Association
(k) Chief Executive Officer, Kenya Professional Safari Guides
Association
(1) Director, Tourism Research, Policy and Innovation
Directorate, State Department of Tourism
(m) Director-General, Tourism Regulatory Authority
(n) Director-General, Kenya Civil Aviation Authority
(o) Chief Executive Officer, Kenya Airports Authority
(p) National Co-ordinator, Kenya National Convention Bureau
(q) Three representatives of international airlines in Kenya
3. The Taskforce will undertake the following —
(a) Develop tourism and hospitality health and safety protocols.
(b) Develop guidelines for the implementation of the protocols.
(c) Propose implementation approach for the protocols.
(d) Make recommendations for effective compliance and self- regulations of the industry in the implementation of the protocols.
(e) Identify and recommend areas of support needed during implementation of the protocols.
(f) Compile and submit to the Cabinet Secretary a Taskforce
Report and the Draft Protocols.
(g) Any other task assigned by the Cabinet Secretary to fulfil the objective for which the Taskforce has been established.
4. The Taskforce may establish sub-committees.
5. The Taskforce may, with the approval of the Cabinet Secretary, co-opt such persons with relevant skills or expertise, to assist it on specialized aspects of its mandate
6. The Secretariat of the Taskforce shall be the Tourism
Regulatory Authority.
7. The Task Force shall undertake and complete its work within seven (7) days.
