NOTICE is given of the intention of The Jubilee Insurance Company Of Kenya Limited ("JICKL") having a registered office at Jubilee Insurance House, Wabera Street, Nairobi, Kenya and of P.O. Box 30376-00100, Nairobi, Kenya, to apply to the Insurance Regulatory Authority for its approval pursuant to section 113 of the Insurance Act, Cap. 487, to the transfer ("Transfer") by JICKL to Jubilee General Insurance Limited ("JGenI") having a registered office at Jubilee Insurance House, Wabera Street, Nairobi, and of P.O. Box 6685-00100, Nairobi, with effect from the 31st December, 2018 (now past), of all those insurance policies issued by JICKL in relation to its general insurance business subsisting at that date. Copies of the documents setting out particulars of the proposed Transfer and a copy of the proposed Conditional Portfolio Transfer Agreement relating thereto as approved by the Insurance Regulatory Authority are available for inspection at the registered office of JICKL, its branches, the Insurance Regulatory Authority Offices (IRA) and CMS Daly Inamdar Advocates' offices, at the addresses listed below during normal business hours. Take further notice that pursuant to the provisions of section 114 (1) (b) of the Insurance Act, the Insurance Regulatory Authority has directed that the Jubilee Insurance Company of Kenya Limited need not send this notice to every affected policy holder and every other person who claims an interest in a policy included in the transfer and who has given notice of such claim to either the Jubilee Insurance Company of Kenya Limited or Jubilee General Insurance Limited as the case may be. Any person (including a policyholder, shareholder, employee or director) who has reasonable grounds for believing that he would be adversely affected by the carrying out of the proposed transfer is invited to write or make oral representations to the Insurance Regulatory Authority within thirty (30) days of the publication of this notice stating the grounds on which he/she believes he/she would be adversely affected by the carrying out of the proposed Transfer. NO. 20591/12 AND 20591/1 IN NDABIBI SUB-COUNTY, NAKURU COUNTY INVITATION OF PUBLIC COMMENTS Pursuant to Regulation 21 of the Environmental Management and Co-ordination (Impact Assessment and Audit) Regulations, 2003, the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has received an Environmental Impact Assessment Study Report for the above proposed project The proponent Kanavo Limited, is proposing to set up horticultural farm comprising; 150Ha. irrigated farm on avocados, tomatoes, onions and other crops, irrigation piping (drip irrigation), staff quarters (already present), water reservoirs, packhouse for finished products, chemical deactivation pits for chemical waste treatments, both male and female toilets, administration offices on plot L.R. No. 20591/12 and 20591/1 in Ndabibi Sub-county, Nakuru County. The following are the anticipated impacts and proposed mitigation measures: Organic wastes from plant residues and paper cartons Loss of aesthetics, risk of accidents due to abandoned plant and equipment Danger of explosions from methane release from septic tanks Increase in poverty due to loss of employment • Compost all the organic wastes. • Clear the site of the abandoned plant and machinery and dispose as scrap metal. • Exhaust the septic tanks and discharge into sewage works. • Provide counseling to workers for post closure of the business. Impacts Pollution from agrochemicals Increased accidents Soil erosion Increased incidence of HIV/AIDS Ergonomics Unplanned human settlements Water conflicts • Harvest rain water. • Recycle wastewater. • Minimize spillages, leakages and by drip irrigation. • Recruiting employees from the surrounding communities. • Promote awareness and education amongst the different communities in the project area. • Site the pit latrines at a safe distance from water sources determined by soil hydraulic conditions and slope. • Triple rinsing and dispose rinsate into a properly constructed hazardous waste landfill. • Puncturing the containers and disposing as hazardous waste.
