THE URBAN AREAS AND CITIES ACT

(No.13 of 2011)

REGULATION

PURSUANT to section 20 of the Urban Areas and Cities Act. 2011 and section 5 of the Wajir Municipal Charter, I, Mohamed Abdi Mohamed, Governor of Wajir County, approve the transfer of the following functions to be undertaken by the Wajir Municipality with effect from the 1st July, 2019: (a) Promotion of regulation and provision of refuse collection and solid waste management services. (b) Construction and maintenance of storm drainage and flood. (c) Construction and maintenance of street lighting. (d) Construction and maintenance of recreational parks and green space. (e) Construction, maintenance of fire station, provision of fire - fighting services emergency preparation and disaster management. (j) Promotion, regulation and provision of animal control and welfare. (g) Municipal administration services (including construction and maintenance of administration office) The respective departments shall transfer or second technical personnel to the Wajir Municipality for effective and efficient service delivery. The County Executive Committee Member for Finance shall put in place arrangement to ensure that the resources necessary for the performances of the above function are transferred to the Wajir Municipality.
