PURSUANT to section 6 of the Community Land Act, 2016, which states that, “County governments shall hold in trust all unregistered community land on behalf of the communities for which it is held” and taking into account the need to investigate illegal/ illegal/irregular land allocations in Tana River, I, Major (Rtd.) Dr. Dhadho Gaddae Godhana, appoint the persons whose names are mentioned below to be members of the Civic Education Committee. Members: Kenneth Omondi Nyasenda—KUSP/Planner/National Government Jacob Jarha—ICPAK, Auditor and experienced in Taskforce. Emily Wawira (Mrs.) —(Chairperson, ISK, Surveyor. Elijah Letangule (Director, Research, NLC, Former CEO, TJRC). Abdikadir Abdi Lugumba—County Administration David Achero Mufuayia (Lawyer) Kenya Land Alliance (KLA) Alice Kinyua (Mrs.) (Advocate) (LSK), link to Ministry of Lands The objectives of this Taskforce are to: (a) Advise the County Government through the National Land Commission on matters relating to irregular allocation of public land in Tana River County. (b) Come up with a report that will guide the County Government in collaboration with the NLC to recover/repossess irregularly allocated public land. (c) Recommend procedure, structure and framework for land management in Tana, well as provide a guide into developing a land policy for Tana. (d) Provide a detailed report on historical land injustices. (e) Provide a detailed report on ranches and the Kipini coastal show line.
