IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred under sections 30 (2) (1) and 117 (2) (d) of the County Governments Act, 2012, and in line with the provisions in articles 42 (a) and (b) of the Constitution of Kenya, and in consideration of the persistent public outcry over the unsustainable exploitation of the natural resources in the County of Kitui, it is notified to the public that the Governor of the County Government of Kitui has, with immediate effect, banned the transportation and sale of charcoal and sand outside the geographical boundaries of the County of Kitui and revoked all licenses, permits and any other documentation issued authorizing the transportation and sale of charcoal and sand outside the geographical boundaries of the County of Kitui.
