GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 1

IT IS notified for general public information that pursuant to provisions of Section 17 of the Seeds and Plant Varieties Act and Regulations 16 and 17 of the Seeds and Plant Varieties (Plant Breeders Rights) Regulations of the Laws of Kenya, the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, gives notification of applications for grant of Plant Breeders' Rights for the 85 plant varieties specified hereunder. The person entitled to make representations regarding any applications is either the breeder or successor in title to the breeder or any person having substantial interest or is in a position to adduce matenal evidence as to the grant. The presentations may be made by lodging the original or certified copy of the deed of assignment or lodging the original or certified copy of letters of administration of the grant or such documentary evidence as will satisfy the authorized officer. The presentations or requests for a hearing conceming the applications or any matters on which the authorized officer should be satisfied shall be made by the person applying for the opportunlty to make presentations to the Cabinet Secretary or the Authorized officer within sixty (60) days of this notice, failure to which the authorized officer will proceed with processing of the Applications.
