IT IS notified for the general information of the public that the Cabinet Secretary for Mining has established a Committee to develop the framework for the establishment of a National Mining Institute consisting of the following - Raymond Mutiso— (Chairperson) Members: Shadrack Kimomo Daniel W. Ichangi Jeniffer Haiwenge Arthur Ndegwa Benard Muchunku Ilashir H. Mursal Elijah Obwori Kennedy Ndegwa Join: Secretaries: Faith Chirchir Faith T. Pesa Terms of reference of the Committee: 1. The terms of reference of the Committee are to - identify the mandate and scope of the National Mining Institute; develop a memorandum of understanding as a framework for co-operation of the National Mining Institute and other institutions; identify all stakeholders who can contribute to the National Mining Institute and designate the roles of the stakeholders; recommend a funding mechanism for the establishment of a robust National Mining Institute; propose linkages with intcrnetional partners to support the growth of the National Mining Institute; (() propose areas of research for the National Mining Institute; and (g) make recommendations to the Cabinet Secretary for Mining and the Cabinet Secretary for Education. Mode of operation: 2. In the performance of its functions, the Committee— (a) shall report to the Cabinet Secretary for Mining and shall regularly keep the Cabinet Secretary apprised on its progress; (Zt) shall hold such number of meetings in such places and at such times as it may consider necessary for the proper discharge of its functions; may receive and consider views from members of the public; shall regulate its own procedure; shall submit a final report to the Cabinet Secretary within six (6) months of its appointment; and ') may undertake any other activities required for the proper performance of its functions. Duration: 3. The term of office of the Committee shall be six months with effect from the date of this Notice. Costs 4. The costs incurred by the Committee including but not limited to facilitation and payment of allowances in respect of the Secretariat and members of the Committee, shall be defrayed from the voted funds of the Ministry of Mining.
