GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 13572

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by section 48 (2) of the Labour Relations Act (No. 14 of 2007), the Minister for Labour— (a) Revokes the Order No. 3585 of 1st July, 1994 and; (b) Order every employer who employs not less than five (5) members of the Kenya Union of Domestic, Hotels, Educational Institutions and Hospital Workers (KUDHEIHA Workers) to— (i) Deduct every month the sum specified in the Schedule in respect of trade union dues from the wages of his/her employees who are members of that trade union. (ii) Pay within ten (10) days of the date of deduction, the total sums deducted under item 1 of the Schedule, by crossed cheque made payable to the Kenya Union of Domestic, Hotels, Educational Institutions and Hospital Workers (KUDHEIHA Workers) into that union‘s account No. 094–182–2215 at the Barclays Bank of Kenya Limited, Queensway House Branch, Nairobi. (iii) Pay within ten (10) days of the date of deduction, the total sums deducted under item (2) of the Schedule by crossed cheque made payable to the Central Organization of Trade Unions (Kenya) into that Organization‘s account No. 229–741–204 at the Kenya Commercial Bank Limited, Moi Avenue Branch, Nairobi. (iv) Notify that trade union and the Organization in writing and within one (1) month of the payment together with the schedule of the paying members. (v) Make written returns to the Registrar of Trade Unions within one (1) month of making the payment to the trade union and to that Organization. SCHEDULE 1. A sum equal to two per cent (2%) subject to a maximum of three hundred shillings (KSh. 300) of the employees‘ salary per month. 2.
