GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 3890

NOTICE is given that an application under section 17 of the Mining Act has been made by Messrs. East Africa Heavy Machinery Limited, P.O. Box 47458–00100, Nairobi, Kenya for a special licence to prospect for all minerals over an area described in the schedule hereto and the said application has been accepted for consideration. By virtue of section 7 (1) (d) of the Mining Act the said area of land is therefore excluded from prospecting and/or mining except as regards any prospecting and rights granted in respect of the area in question or any part thereof before the date of this notice which are subsisting or any right of renewal thereof. Any objection to the grant of the special licence maybe made in writing and addressed to the Commissioner of Mines and Geology, P.O. Box 30009-00100, Nairobi, Kenya to reach him within thirty (30) days from the date of publication of this notice. SCHEDULE An area of approximately 273 sq. km. situated in Busia District of Western Province, delineated on Jinja topo sheet Ref. No. NA-36-15 of scale 1:250,000 and more particularly described as follows: Commencing at point ―A‖ grid reference XR 5070; thence on a grid bearing of 180 for a distance of approximately 10 km to point ―B‖ grid reference XR 5060; thence on a grid bearing of 270 for a distance of approximately 20 km to point ―C‖ grid reference XR 3060; thence on a grid bearing of 180 for a distance of approximately 10 km to point ―D‖ grid reference XR 3050; thence on a grid bearing of 270 for a distance of approximately 8.5 km to point ―E‖ grid reference XR 2250; thence along the Kenya-Uganda border at a distance of approximately 27.8 km to point ―F‖ grid reference XR 4070; thence on a grid bearing of 90 for a distance of approximately 10.5 km to the point of commencement.
