IT IS notified for general information to the public: I. That following the implementation of the Council of Legal Education (Accreditation of Legal Education Institutions) Regulations, 2009, the following legal education providers have been granted provisional accreditation for a period of one year commencing on the date stated in respect of each institution: Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) Programme Catholic University of Eastern Africa 17th April, 2009 (renewed for 1 year) Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) 26th March, 2010 University of Nairobi, Parklands Campus 26th March, 2010 Kenyatta University, Parklands Campus 5th November, 2010 Moi University, Eldoret Campus 5th November, 2010 Diploma in Law Programme Kenya School of Professional Studies (now Inoorero University) 17th April, 2009 (renewed for 1 year) II. That although the following institutions have engaged with the Council of Legal Education for purposes of accreditation, they have not yet met the criteria for accreditation and have therefore not been granted provisional accreditation under the aforesaid provision: Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Programme (i) University of Nairobi (Mombasa Campus) (ii) University of Nairobi (Kisumu Campus) has not yet been inspected (iii) Mount Kenya University (Thika Campus) (iv) Kabarak University (Nakuru Campus) (v) Inoorero University (Parklands Campus) (vi) African Nazarene University (Rongai Campus) (vii) Egerton University (Nakuru Campus) (viii) KCA University (Thika Road Campus) (ix) Kiriri Women‘s University of Science and Technology (Nairobi Campus) (x) University of London (xi) University of South Africa THE KENYA GAZETTE 21st January, 2011 Diploma in Law (i) Pioneer College (Ngara Campus, Nairobi) (ii) Elgonview College (Eldoret Campus) (iii) Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (Nairobi Campus) (iv) MIS College, Nakuru (v) Foundation Institute of Africa Ltd, KPCU Building, Nairobi (vi) Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX), UK III. That the Council of Legal Education at its meeting on the 5th November, 2010 reiterated its earlier decision that any person intending or engaged as legal education provider must forthwith apply for accreditation to the ―Council‖ otherwise they will be deemed to be operating illegally and certificates awarded by such institutions will not be recognized by the Council as a legal qualification.
