GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 4218

NOTICE is given that application under section 18 (2) of the Mining Act has been made by Messrs. Garsesala Mining Company Limited, of P.O. Box 7251–00300, Nairobi, Kenya for exclusive prospecting licence to prospect for gypsum, iron ore and other base metals over an area described in the schedule hereto and the said application has been accepted for consideration. By virtue of section 7 (1) (d) of the Mining Act the said area of land is therefore excluded from prospecting and or mining except as regards any prospecting and mining rights granted in respect of the area in question or any part thereof before the date of this notice which are subsisting or any right of renewal thereof. Any objection to the grant of the exclusive prospecting licence may be made in writing and addressed to the Commissioner of Mines and Geology, P.O. Box 30009–00100, Nairobi, Kenya to reach him within thirty (30) days from the date of publication of this notice. SCHEDULE An area of approximately 600km situated in Mandera District of North Eastern Province, delineated on El Wak topo sheet Ref No. NA- 37-8 of scale 1: 250,000 and more particularly described as follows: Commencing at point ―A‖ grid reference FP 9505; thence on a grid bearing of 90 for a distance of approximately 20km to point ―B‖ grid reference GP 1505; thence on a grid bearing of 180 for a distance of approximately 30km to point ―C‖ grid reference GN 1575; thence on a grid bearing of 270 for a distance of approximately 20km to point ―D‖ grid reference FN 9575; thence on a grid bearing of 360 for a distance of approximately 30km to the point of commencement.
