THE ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT AND CO-ORDINATION ACT

(No. 8 of 1999)

REGULATION


PURSUANT to regulation 21 of Environmental (Impact Assessment and Audit) Regulations, the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has received an environmental impact assessment study report for the implementation of proposed construction of a game fishing lodge. The proposed project will entail construction of five two storied buildings, a manager's house, five servants' quarter and a building to accommodate generator, transformer and switch board. The lodge will offer among others; entertainment facilities such as swimming pools, garage with parking space, a store, kitchen and laundry facilities for rental purposes. The proposed project will be located on L.R. No. 20251 in Boja area of Mtondia Majaoni Sub-location, Kilifi Town Council, in Kilifi District. The project anticipates the following impacts and mitigation measures: Possible impacts Mitigation Measures Increased accidents • Prevention and management of accidents. •Education of workers on areas likely to cause accidents. •Provision of proper PPE's. Fire risks • Provision of fire management system. •Installation of fire fighting system. •Education of workers on tire.. escape routes. •Conduct fire fighting drills for all workers. •Have designated fire assembly points. •Formation of fire fighting team. •Arrangement for evacuation for evacuation instructions in guest rooms. Liquid and solid waste • Periodic checking of water taps to management reduce raw water usage. •Minimization of waste water and solid waste generation. • Installation of waste water recycling and treatment plants. •Introduction of waste water pollution prevention measures. Possible impacts Mitigation Measures •Monitoring quality of effluent. •Segregation of solid waste. •Recycling of solid waste. •Proper storage of solid waste and transportation to designated dumping sites. Marine water • Ensuring adherence to coastal zone and building/survey standards. The National Environment Management Authority invites members of the public to submit oral or written comments within thirty (30) days from the date of publication of this notice to the Director-General, National Environment Management Authority, to assist the authority in the approval process of the project. NO. 10742 THE VALUATION FOR RATING ACT (Cap. 266) THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF KITALE 2006 DRAM- VALUATION ROLL PURSUANT to the provisions of section 9(3) of the Valuation for Rating Act and Section 10(1) of the Valuation for Rating (Public Land) rules, notice is given that the 2006 Draft Valuation Roll has been laid before a meeting of the Municipal Council of Kitale as required by section 9(2) of the same Act. Notice is further given that the said Draft Valuation Roll is open for inspection in the Council Chamber—Town Hall, during working hours. Any person who is aggrieved: (a)By the inclusion of any rateable property in or by the omission of any rateable property from the said Rill, or (b)By any value as described in the Roll to any rateable property, or by any other statement made or omitted to be made in the same with respect to any rateable property, may lodge an objection with the Town Clerk at any time before the expiration of twenty eight (28) days from thee date of publication of this notice in respect of private land and six (6) months in case of public land. The attention of the public is drawn to the provisions of section 10(2) of Cap. 266 which states that: — "No person shall be entitled to urge any objection before a Valuation Court (hereinafter referred to) unless he has first lodged such notice of objection as aforesaid".
