THE ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT AND CO-ORDINATION ACT
(No. 8 of 1999)
CORRIGENDUM
PURSUANT to regulation 21 of Environmental (Impact
Assessment and Audit) Regulations, the National Environment
Management Authority (NEMA) has received an Environmental
Impact Assessment Study Report for the implementation of proposed
Apartments on Plot No. 589 section 1/MN Nyali, Mombasa.
The proposed project entails construction of 36 apartments in 3 blocks. Each block with 7 floors, swimming pool, gym, tennis/volley ball court, gardens and parking. Various activities such as site clearance, ground preparation, assembly of building materials and actual work will be carried out.
The project anticipates the following impacts and mitigation measures:

•Regular sprinking of water.
•Provision of dust masks to workers.
•Selective cutting of trees.
Develop a code of practice for respect of wildlife and proper maintenance of the equipment used in the works.
• Make optional use of environmental resources that constitute a key element in tourism development within the park, maintain essential ecological processes and helping to conserve natural heritage and biodiversity.

• Provision of waste bins at site.
•Waste will be sorted at source.
•Color code to be used to distinguish waste bins.
•Solid waste to be handled, managed and disposed according to the waste regulations.
•Contract a licensed company to handle waste.

•Approximate volume of water required in order to place a mechanism for reliable supply.
