THE PHYSICAL AND LAND USE PLANNING ACT

(No. 13 of 2019)

ACT

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 49 of the Physical and Land Use Planning Act, notice is given that the County Governement of Homa Bay intends to commence preparation of the above plan on the 4th June, 2026. The purpose of the plan is to guide, co-ordinate and optimize the use of land and its resources by influencing the distribution of people and activities to ensure that the town attains prosperity, equity and sustainable development in line with people’s aspirations. The Objectives of the Plan are: (a) To provide an overall spatial framework to guide climate- resilient development; 26th June, 2026 THE KENYA GAZETTE (b) To designate and regulate land use zones with specific land use guidelines; (c) To guide and co-ordinate the development of infrastructure provision including public facilities; (d) To provide a basis for inclusive, efficient and effective delivery of services; (e) To guide the use and management of natural resources; (f) To create an integrated actionable strategy to address climate change and environmental protection, and; (g) To integrate sectoral policies into the physical and land use plan. Comments on the proposed plan may be directed to the undersigned not later tha 26th June, 2026. Dated the 4th June, 2026.
