IT IS notified for the general information of the public that the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports has appointed the Steering Committee, the Management Committee and Secretariat for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. 1. The mandate of the Steering Committee shall be to– (a) Oversee the preparation of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games; (b) Review and approve work plans, budgets and any other relevant proposals made by the Central Management Committee; (c) Approve the final list of athletes and officials that are to participate in the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games; (d) Provide overall oversight on the activities of the athletes and officials who are to participate in the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games; and (e) Provide high-level policy direction and ensure strategic alignment with the Commonwealth Games ambitions. 2. The mandate of the Management Committee shall be to– (a) Conduct trials to verify the qualification of the athletes who are to participate in the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. (b) Consult with the respective federations of athletes to select the teams of athletes that are to participate in the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games; (c) Prepare work plans, budgets and any other proposals for consideration by the steering committee; (d) Co-ordinate with the event organisers on all the activities of the athletes and officials that are to participate in the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games; (e) Prepare a final report on the fulfilment of the mandate of the Committee; and (f) Perform any duty that may be assigned to it by the Steering Committee. 3. The mandate of the Secretariat shall be to– (a) Record Keeping: Maintain all official event records, including minutes of meetings, correspondence, and reports. (b) Internal Communication: Keep committee members and staff informed of schedules, tasks, and changes. (c) Schedule Maintenance: Develop and update the event calendar and competition schedules. (d) Registration Management: Handle participant and team registrations. (e) Secretariat Desk Management: Manage the on -site secretariat/information desk during the event, handling inquiries and providing on-the-spot administration. (f) Document Preparation: Produce tournament handbooks, registration forms, certificates of participation, and reports. (g) Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all legal documents, such as insurance policies and health and safety requirements are up to date and filed. (h) Reporting: Compile and submit final reports following the conclusion of the event. 4. The members of the Steering Committee and the Management Committee shall serve for a term of six (6) months, with effect from the 1st April to the 30th September, 2026 9. The activities of the Steering Committee and the Management Committee shall be funded through the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, and the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K). 10. Upon the completion of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, the Management Committee shall— (a) Compile a comprehensive technical report of the events and audited accounts to be submitted to the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports within three (3) months from the date of completion of the Games; and (b) Surrender all assets, including any credit balance in the bank account and movable assets, to the Principal Secretary, State Department for Sports.
