IT IS notified for the general information of the public that the Land Settlement Fund Board of Trustees, established under sections 134 and 135 of the Land Act, 2012, administers the Land Settlement Fund for purposes of implementing settlement schemes in the Republic of Kenya. Settlement schemes are implemented by the National Government in consultation with the National Land Commission and the respective county governments. 27th March, 2026 THE KENYA GAZETTE Settlement schemes play an important role in supporting land access, agricultural production and rural development in Kenya. Currently, there are five hundred and twenty (520) settlement schemes across twenty-six (26) counties, of which four hundred and eighty-four (484) are registered and thirty-six (36) are undergoing registration. It is further notified that the Cabinet, has approved a waiver of all outstanding interest and penalties on land and development loans issued under the Land Settlement Fund. Accordingly— (a) all outstanding interest and penalties on loans issued under the Land Settlement Fund are waived; (b) a moratorium period of twelve (12) months, commencing on 13th February 2026, is granted to all settlers and individual plot owners to pay the outstanding principal loan amount only; (c) all settlers with outstanding principal loan balances are required to utilise the moratorium period to settle the principal amount due; and (d) upon the expiry of the moratorium period on 14th February 2027, any unpaid principal amount shall attract interest in accordance with the applicable terms of the Land Settlement Fund loans. Settlers and plot owners may obtain their individual principal loan balances by accessing the official website of the Ministry at www.lands.go.ke and following the prescribed guidelines.
