THE ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT AND CO-ORDINATION ACT
(No. 8 of 1999)
BILL
PURSUANT to section 59 of the Environmental Management and
Coordination Act 1999, the National Environment Management
Authority (NEMA) has received an Environmental Impact Assessment
Study Report for the above proposed project.

received an Environmental Impact Assessment Study Report for the
above proposed project.
The proponent, Kings Lotus Limited, intends to 4 blocks of 65
storey each (Ground plus 6 floors) residential building comprising a
total of 280 two and three bedroom residential units and 28No.
Maisonattes, basketball court, driveway, parking, sewer systems and
other associated facilities and amenities on plot L.R No. Ngong/Ngong
110409 in Rongai, Kajiado County.
The following are the anticipated impacts and proposed mitigation
measures.

• Construction activities to be restricted to
daytime.
• Workers in the vicinity of high level
noise to wear safety and protective gear.
• Provide noise buffers such as walls and
trees around site.
Oil Pollution • Proper storage handling and disposal of
oil waste.
• Maintain plant and equipment to avoid
leaks.
• Maintenance of construction vehicles
should be carried out in the contractor’s
yard of the site.
• Provide oil interceptors along the drains
leading from the carwash and service
bays.
High water demand • Management of water use.
• Recycling of water during construction

safety etc.

• Sensitize workers and residents on fire
risks management.
• Adapt effective emergency response
plan.
• Maintain firefighting machinery
regularly.
• Provide emergency numbers at strategic
points.
Security • Provide security guards and facilities
during construction period.
• The gate should always be manned by
security men even during occupation.
GHG Emissions • Reduce over-specification of concrete
and steel.
• Limit high-carbon tiles, use low-carbon
adhesives, paints, waterproofing.
• Increase PV capacity, install solar water
heaters, high efficiency pumps and
lighting, optimize STP energy use.
• Materials passport for steel, stone, glass;
design for disassembly and reuse.
• Replace 30–50% cement with
supplementary materials (PFA, GGBS),
specify recycled-content steel.

The National Environmental Management Authority, invites
members of the public to submit oral or written comments within
thirty (30) days from the date of publication of this notice to the
Director-General, NEMA to assist the Authority in the decision
making process for this project.
