GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 11450

NOTICE is given to all Senators that: PURSUANT to section 33 (1) of the Senate Standing Orders, on the request of the Senate Majority Leader with the support of the requisite number of Senators; AND FURTHER UPON receipt of a letter from the Speaker of the County Assembly of Kericho, Ref: KCA/SP/3 Vol. I (39), dated 15th August, 2025 and received in the Office of the Speaker of the Senate on 18th August, 2025, by which the Speaker of the County Assembly of Kericho informed the Speaker of the Senate of the approval of a Motion for the removal from office by impeachment of Hon. (Dr.) Erick Kipkoech Mutai, the Governor of Kericho County; I have appointed Wednesday, 20th August, 2025 as a day for a special sitting of the Senate. The sitting shall be held at the Senate Chamber, Main Parliament Buildings, Nairobi, commencing at 2.30 p.m. The business to be transacted at the sitting shall be— (1) swearing-in of Consolata Nabwire Wakwabubi, a Senator elected under Article 98 (1) (b) of the Constitution; (2) the hearing of the charges against Hon. (Dr). Eric Kipkoech Mutai, the Governor of Kericho County; and (3) alteration of the Senate Calendar. In accordance with standing order 33 (5) of the Senate Standing Orders, the business specified in this Notice shall be the only business before the Senate during the special sitting, following which the Senate shall stand adjourned until Tuesday, 9th September, 2025 at 2.30 p.m. in accordance with the Senate Calendar.
