GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 1113

IT IS notified for the information of the general public that pursuant to Article 178 (1) of the Constitution, section 11 (1) (d) of the County Governments Act, 2012 and Standing Order 4 of the Elgeyo/Marakwet Standing Orders, the Office of the Speaker of the County Assembly has become vacant following the resignation from office of Philemon Kiplagat Sabulei. Article 178 (1) of the Constitution provides that each county assembly shall have a speaker elected by the County Assembly from among persons who are not members of the assembly. Pursuant to the provisions of section 21 and First Schedule of the Elections Act, 2011 as read together with Standing Order 4 of the Elgeyo/Marakwet Standing Orders, the County Assembly of Elgeyo/Marakwet shall during its sitting of the 11th February, 2025 at 10.00 a.m. conduct elections for the Office of the Speaker. Interested persons who qualify to be elected as members of County Assembly but are not such members are therefore invited to submit their nomination papers for election to the Office of Speaker of the County Assembly. Nomination papers can be collected from the Office of the Clerk of the Elgeyo/Marakwet County Assembly at County Assembly Buildings, Iten, during working hours or downloaded from the County Assembly’s website www.emcassembly.go.ke commencing from Friday the 31st January, 2025. Completed nomination papers, together with curriculum vitae of the candidate and relevant supporting documents, should be submitted through hand delivery to the Office of the Clerk of the Elgeyo/Marakwet County Assembly at County Assembly Buildings, Iten, not later than 14.00 p.m. on Friday the 7th February, 2025.
