THE PHYSICAL AND LAND USE PLANNING ACT
(No. 13 of 2019)
ACT
PURSUANT to the provisions of section (47) of the Physical and
Land Use Planning Act, 2019, notice is given that the County
Government of Tana River intends to commence preparation of the
above plan on the 20th June, 2022. The purpose of the plan is to
provide a broad planning framework to guide spatial planning and
growth within the Municipality for a period of 10 years.
The objectives of the plan are:
• Provide an overall Municipal Spatial Framework to guide
development in the Municipality.
• Interpreting and localizing national and regional policies and
strategies.
• Providing a basis for infrastructure and services delivery, use
and management of natural resources as well as environmental
protection and conservation.
• Identification of opportunities for job creation and
employment.
• Development strategies to support industries, trade and
commerce for economic development.
• Development of strategies on improvement of transport and
communication networks and linkages.
• Development of various policies and strategies for an urban
system strategy.
