GAZE! rrr NOTICE No. 11521 THE CROPS ACT (No. 16 of 2013) THE DRAFT CROPS (MIRAA) REGULATIONS, 2021 REQUEST FOR COMMENTS ON THE DRAFT REGULATORY IMPACT STATEMENT AND THE DRAFT CROPS (MIRAA) REGULATIONS, 2021 THE Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Co-operatives is in the process of promulgating the Crops (Miraa) Regulations, 2021 as provided under section 40 of the Crops Act, 2013. In compliance with the provisions of the Crops Act, 2013 and the Statutory Instruments Act (No. 23 of 2013), the Ministry announces to the public the availability of the draft Crops (Miraa) Regulations, 2021 and draft Regulatory Impact Statement on their websites www.kilimo.go.ke and www.agricultureauthority.go.ke The main objective of the draft Crops (Miraa) Regulations, 2021 is to facilitate the development, promotion, and regulation of Miraa for the benefit of the Miraa growers and other stakeholders in the Miraa industry. The Regulatory Impact Statement contains detailed information on the Crops (Miraa) Regulations, 2021. The Constitution of Kenya, 2010 and the Statutory Instruments Act, 2013 require the public to participate in the decision making- process through submission of comments to the Ministry. It is in this spirit that the Ministry requests the public to participate by submitting their comments through the provided address. All interested persons should submit written comments on the Crops (Miraa) Regulations, 2021 and the draft Regulatory Impact Statement using the prescribed public comments form, to reach the undersigned not later than fourteen (14) days from the date of publication of this notice. There shall be two public forum meetings on the 18th November, 2021 at Igembe Central, Deputy County Commissioner's grounds and on the 19th November, 2021 at Mbeere South Deputy County Commissioner's grounds.
