Coordinate with County Physical Planner for Land use re-zoning/gazette notices from agricultural to industrial land use zones. • Adhere to best practices in managing waste mines around quarry. • Avoid blocking the waterways with overburden soils at Mwachome seasonal river. • Excavate and Back-fill the mine area. • Maintain a buffer distance from the seasonal river bed (60 meters). • Ensure all mine wastes are safely re-used in backfilling and landscaping. • Cover moving trucks transporting mineral/shale to avoid spillage. • Involve road engineers in route options, new road designs/supervisions. • Ensure use of weigh bridges at loading point to control tonnage. • Use road signs, control speed 30-40Km in certain sections, traffic rules. • Ensure all public roads used can accommodate the trucks tonnage. • Co-ordinate with County or National government to upgrade roads where possible. • Coordinate with the county planner for ga-zette due to change in land use. • Plant trees to ensure the mine does not affect other land use activities eg. Farming. • Coordinate with county for zoned development in the area. • Involve/Engage/Collaborate with stakeholders to form Liaison committee, PAPs committee, Grievance Redress committee, Resettlement Committee. • Develop Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) Survey, including Asset Valuation, Entitlement Matrix, and Develop Compensation Framework. • Ensure minimal impact and inconveniences of the occupiers, land owners and project 30th July, 2021 THE KENYA GAZETTE 3329 Potential Impact Proposed Mitigation neighbors.
